The Wechsler Individual Achievement Test – Third Edition (WIAT-III), along with several other assessments, is used to assess the educational skills of students to determine the presence of a specific learning disorder such as dyslexia.  Reading, writing, spelling, math and oral language skills may be assessed.

The results from these assessments are used along with the results of a cognitive assessment to diagnose a specific learning disorder such as dyslexia.
