Dyslexia. Dysgraphia. Dyscalculia. Specific Learning Disorders. General Learning Difficulties. Giftedness. Intellectual Disability.
The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – Fifth Edition (WISC-V) is used to assess for the presence of a specific learning disorder (such as dyslexia) as well as general learning difficulties and giftedness for primary and secondary students (6 to 16 years). This measure gives information about a student’s potential for academic success (that is, their speed of learning in the classroom) as well as their ability to learn concepts and how well they can apply them in a new situation.
The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Adults – Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV) is used to assess the presence of dyslexia as well as general learning difficulties and giftedness for adults.
These assessments are used along with the results of an educational assessment to diagnose a specific learning disorder such as dyslexia.
