The length of a counselling session is generally 50 to 60 minutes. During the first session you will be asked to share the difficulties you are experiencing as well as the changes you want as a result of counselling. You may be asked to complete a number of questionnaires to help Jacqui understand your relevant history.
During the sessions that follow, Jacqui will work with you to develop more helpful ways of coping to improve mental health and general wellbeing. All information discussed during counselling is private and confidential. However, there are some limits to confidentiality. Jacqui will discuss this with you during the first session.
The number of sessions attended depends on the support needed by each client. Generally, it varies from 3 to 12 sessions. After attending for a consistent period, some clients find it helpful to touch base on an irregular basis for psychological ‘check-ups’.
