Cognitive assessments may be needed to contribute to a diagnosis of an Intellectual Disability, general learning difficulties or, whether a student's abilities fall in the range of Giftedness.
For students in early primary school, this type of testing may assist in informing next steps from an intervention perspective (e.g., are the student's difficulties related to global and/or more general learning problems rather than specific cognitive weaknesses).
Educational testing offers a comprehensive understanding of a student's phonological processing, reading, writing, mathematics, spelling and handwriting skills. This type of testing may be helpful in informing next steps for intervention (e.g., identifying strengths and weaknesses across academic skills).
